Want to experience Vilvoorde in winter the sporty way? You can with Winterrun Vilvoorde! On Sunday evening, 14 December, the Winterrun takes you right through the city so you can discover its most beautiful spots while running. After your effort, enjoy a mulled wine or a hot chocolate at the cosy Christmas market at the finish.

Whether you’re a seasoned runner or laced up your running shoes for the first time last week: Winterrun Vilvoorde is for everyone. Sign up quickly and make it an unforgettable, sporty and sociable evening with friends and family!

Course

Winterrun Vilvoorde offers two distances: 5.4 kilometres and 9 kilometres. The courses take you along some of the city’s most beautiful (sometimes hidden) paths. The exact routes will be available here from Monday 1 December.

Both routes are built around the Vilvoordse Mijl: a local unit of length that—unsurprisingly—measures 1,800 metres. A playful nod to our city’s postcode. Run the fastest Vilvoordse Mijl on course and win a nice prize at the finish*.

*The winner is determined by the fastest time recorded on the Strava segment after the race. The start and end of the segment will also be signposted on the course. 

Programme

The start for both distances is at 17:00. All participants start together. After 5.3 kilometres, a clear split marks the short and long routes. 

Cheer on the runners or celebrate your performance at the finish and at Vilvoorde’s Christmas market. Lucky you: they’re right next to each other! The Winterrun Vilvoorde finish area closes at 19:00; the Winters Vilvoorde Christmas market closes at 20:00.

Practical info

Location

The start and finish of Winterrun Vilvoorde are located under the canopy on the Grote Markt in Vilvoorde (Grote Markt – 1800 Vilvoorde). 

Bib pick-up

You’ll find the check-in point in the ‘Spiegeltent’ on the Grote Markt. From 14:00 you can pick up your bib, buy tickets or ask questions here. The check-in closes at 16:30—half an hour before the start of Winterrun Vilvoorde.

Bags

There is a free storage area for personal belongings in the Spiegeltent on the Grote Markt. Please bring a sports bag or backpack—loose clothing items will not be accepted. 

The bag drop opens at 15:30 and remains supervised until 20:00. However, the organisation cannot be held liable for theft or damage.

Toilets, showers and changing rooms

Paid toilets are available in the Spiegeltent near the start and finish. Showers and changing rooms are not available, so please plan accordingly!

Food & drinks

The start and finish of Winterrun Vilvoorde are right by the Spiegeltent and the Winters Vilvoorde Christmas market. Plenty of options for waiting supporters or hungry runners to enjoy a drink or a tasty bite. Don’t forget: after effort comes well-earned relaxation.

Registration

Register via this page until Saturday 13 December at 23:59. If tickets sell out earlier, registrations will close sooner—so don’t wait!

Participants registered on or before 7 December receive a personalised bib. Registered after 7 December? We’ll still provide a designed bib on which you can write your name at the start.

On-the-day registrations

On-the-day registrations are possible until 16:30. You can buy a day ticket at the check-in point in the Spiegeltent. It opens at 14:00 and closes at 16:30, half an hour before the start. Day tickets are sold while stocks last.

Cancellation options depend on timing and are subject to certain conditions. Please read these carefully in advance!

Accident insurance

You are not automatically insured by the organisation for bodily injuries during the race. We offer the option to take out additional insurance when you register.

Getting there

The start and finish of Winterrun Vilvoorde are located next to the canopy on the Grote Markt in Vilvoorde (Grote Markt – 1800 Vilvoorde). Make it part of your warm-up and come on foot, by bike or by public transport whenever possible!

By bike

Cycling is the perfect warm-up for your run. The start is easy and safe to reach via the cycle highways F1, F23 and F214. A free (unsupervised) bicycle parking area will be available on the Grote Markt. 

By (tram) bus

Two bus stops are within walking distance of the start:

• Heldenplein: served by lines R20, 21 and 28 (De Lijn) and line 47 (STIB/MIVB).
• Leuvensestraat: served by line 1 (De Lijn).

By train

Vilvoorde station is about a 15-minute walk from the start. Check the timetable on the SNCB website.

By car

You can park in the paid car park under the Grote Markt. No space left? Follow the parking route signs or park on the street. Always respect local traffic rules and residents. Please note: Vilvoorde is divided into different paid parking zones. More info at www.vilvoorde.be/parkeerbeleid.
